THE LAND OF OUR ANCESTORS

Belarus is a country of interesting history and rich culture, a country of picturesque cities and towns. Today, as many years ago, in one of the beautiful corners of Hrodna, flaunts agro-town Ozery. This name comes from two lakes. On the one hand there is White lake, and on the other – Rybnitsa. In the documents Ozery was first mentioned in 1398 as "the court of Prince Vitovt", but life here was in full swing much before the specified time. Near the village were found the encampment of the stone and bronze ages, the revealed silicon wafer, knives, scrapers, cutters, dating back to the VIII – V Millennium BC. E., as well as bronze arrowheads, axes, pottery. In memory of those ancient times, stone monuments were installed near the sites of the findings. An important point is that these monuments were set by the efforts of concerned residents [6] (Annex 14).

Since ancient times, the Ozery has been a favorite place of kings. In the XV – XVII century it was mentioned as a Royal place of Hrodno Royal economy, the income from which went to the maintenance of the Royal court. Stanislav Poniatowski, the last king of POLAND, liked to be here, and earlier, in 1518 Sigismund gave the Ozery to Yuri Radziwill for rent or otherwise "in the Outpost" of Hrodna. Since 1555 Ozersk Royal Governor was appointed Sebastian Kraszewski, the details of which do not exist [5].

In the XVI – first half of the seventeenth century developed the city, privately owned, Church and Royal towns of Hrodno region, among them was the Ozery. In accordance with the privileges of 1568 Prince Sigismund Augustus, in the Ozery began to be held weekly auction. The peasants of the town saled borany, wheels, and earned an average of 15 rubles per year. The peasants from the sale of clothes and wool received 5 rubles. Ozersky of the fair was the old trading square, where in 1679 was built a wooden Church of the Mother of God which was burned in the Russian-Polish war (1654-1667). It should be noted that the Catholic parish was founded in the Ozery much earlier, more specifically in 1676. Church was situated in the center of the town. In 1779, the religious building was renovated at the expense of the last king of Poland Stanislaw Poniatowski. The Church was known for the fact that there were unique things: the carved altar, ornate (clothes Ksenzov) embroidered belts. But time inevitably ran forward and then to the Church, a sad fate: died in a flame of fire during the Second world war. On the former site of the trading area in 1994 was built silicate brick in Gothic style, the current Cathedral of Christ the lords [6], [11],(Appendix 2).

After the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (1795) the Ozery became a part of the Russian Empire, in the Hrodno district. It should be noted that, although the Ozery was for a long time a Royal borough, but under one of the kings, they have not acquired such prosperity, as in the pan from a simple noble family Michael Walck, but more on that later.

In 1798, after the death of the former king Poniatowski, Michael Walicki bought a place Esori (Fig. present Ozery) in 25 kilometers to the East from Grodno, on the Bank of lake White which belonged earlier to the monarch.

Conclusion: summing up, Ozery is mentioned in 1398 as possession of Prince Vitovt. Since 1518 belonged Yuri Radziwill. In accordance with the privileges of Prince Sigismund Augustus of 1568, weekly bazaars took place in the Ozery. As a result of the third section of the Commonwealth Lake was part of the Russian Empire. At the end of the XVIII century the estate was acquired by the famous scientist, adventurer and philanthropist Mikhail Valitsky, in these times the Ozery reached their highest peak.
