The first mention of Shchuchin in a written source refers to 1487. However, the mention of Shchuchin of 1537 in the 21st book of records of Lithuanian metrics stored in the Russian state archive of ancient acts (Moscow) is now considered as a basis. The document indicates that a tradesman Stanislav Olshansky, who lived in Shchuchin, moved to Mosty, which was owned by Queen Bona at that time. From the document follows that Shchuchin at that moment turned into a place of privately owned type.
