Ozery under the management of Cout Levashov

L. Walicki helped the rebels to arm themselves. After the uprising of 1863, the tsarist government took the decision to strengthen the position of the "Russian Church" in the North-Western territory, at the same time the construction of the existing Orthodox Church of the Holy spirit for 450 seats began. In 1867, a new parish Church was built in the centre of the village by order of the chief of the territory of count Mikhail N. Muravyov, and today it is an architectural monument of the Synod's directions in retrospect-Russian style.

Historical events, it should be said that the management of Levashov for Ozery has not gone unnoticed. Since 1901, the town was often visited by the French. They built a new sawmill. The merchants came to town to trade with England, Germany, and Belgium. Thanks to the count's family, the first school was founded. It was called "public school", which was a two-year elementary school for the unprivileged segments of the population and had three compartments. Pupils of the third division helped the teacher to teach the children of the first compartment. Later schools of this type would be called Lancaster, wich means mutual learning. In addition to the public school there was a two-year parish school, it involved about 30 people and was under the supervision of the parish priest. The daughters of the rector, whose main purpose was to teach children to read and write, provided teaching. Only in 1933, a new 7-year school was built.

It is worth noting that the theme of education in the town Ozery, is the subject of a separate historical work, that can enrich the knowledge about the educational process in the towns of Grodno region.

Not to mention the fact that at the end of the XVIII century a wooden synagogue was built, and in the early nineteenth century — the Jewish prayer school (alas, not preserved). For statistics: in 1878, Ozery consisted of 1013 residents, among them – 508 Jews.

Conclusion: the Board of the count's family Levashov Ozery has not gone unnoticed. A bright page of his management is considered the heyday of education in the town, changes in religious policy. The construction of a stone Church in the name of the Holy Spirit, which today, having survived two world wars, brightens up Ozery. In 1878, Ozery consisted of 1013 residents, half of them Jews. At the end of the XVIII century in the Lakes was built a wooden synagogue, and in the early nineteenth century, Jewish prayer school. The last two are now lost.
